Rooken

IT security for people who do not have an IT department.

Rooken builds tools that watch the basics on your computers and speak up when something needs fixing.

Most break-ins do not start with an advanced attack. They start with something basic that was switched off.

A firewall disabled during troubleshooting and never turned back on. A remote desktop left open to the internet. A backup that quietly stopped running. That is what actually hits small businesses, not the hacker scenes from the movies.

The problem is not missing tools. Windows has most of them built in. The problem is that nobody notices when something gets switched off. That is the watch Argos is built to stand.

The tool is called Argos

Argos is a small agent that runs quietly in the background on a Windows computer. It continuously checks the settings that in practice decide how easy the machine is to break into, and speaks up in plain language when something needs fixing.

What we do not build

Trust requires clear boundaries. These things are outside our lane, and they will stay there.

Antivirus software
Argos does not replace Windows Defender or other security software. It watches whether they are switched on and working. A supplement, not a replacement.
Employee monitoring
Argos looks at the machine settings, not at people. No screenshots, no keystrokes, no browser history. Ever.
Tools that harvest your data
Your files, documents and photos stay on your computer. The agent sends status about settings, not content. Exactly what is sent is listed in the privacy policy.

Why the name Rooken?

The name comes from the rook, the tower in chess: the piece that stands on the back rank and covers the whole file, no tricks. That role suits us well.

Argos is nearly finished. Be there from the start.

The product is in its final development phase, and we are looking for the first pilot customers: small businesses and individuals who want to try Argos and tell us what could be better. Pilot customers get special terms at launch.
